Network Security & Firewalls
The firewall is only as good as its configuration
Next-generation firewalls, segmentation and secure remote access — designed around how your business actually operates, not around a default ruleset.
Most organisations already own a capable firewall. Far fewer are getting what they paid for from it. Appliances are commonly deployed with permissive any-any rules left over from the migration, inspection disabled because it slowed something down, firmware two years behind, and a rule base nobody has audited since installation. The licence is current; the protection is theoretical.
We design the policy before we touch the appliance: what must talk to what, what must never, and what happens when a device inside the network is compromised. Then we deploy, tune and document it — and hand over a rule base your own team can read.
Network security
Perimeter and internal controls, configured for your traffic rather than for a datasheet.
- Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) deployment
- Firewall policy review and rule-base cleanup
- Network segmentation and micro-segmentation
- Intrusion prevention (IPS/IDS)
- Secure remote access and VPN replacement
- Web filtering and SSL inspection
- Wireless network security
- High-availability and failover design
Zero Trust — what it actually means here
Zero Trust is sold as a product and delivered as a programme. The principle underneath the marketing is simple: stop treating the internal network as trusted. Historically, a device that was inside the perimeter could broadly reach internal systems, which is what turns one compromised laptop into an organisation-wide incident.
For most businesses the practical starting point is not an architecture programme. It is three moves that remove most of the risk:
- Enforce multi-factor authentication everywhere, including on the legacy protocols that quietly bypass it.
- Remove standing administrative privilege, so admin rights are requested and time-bound rather than permanently assigned.
- Segment the network, so finance, operations and guest traffic cannot reach each other freely.
What you get
What working with us looks like
Policy before product
We establish what should be allowed to reach what before any appliance is configured. The rule base follows the business, not the default template.
Blast radius contained
Segmentation means a compromised laptop in one department cannot reach finance, operations or the server estate unchallenged.
Inspection actually enabled
Decryption and deep inspection sized correctly, so they stay switched on instead of being disabled the first time throughput suffers.
A rule base you can read
Documented, commented and cleaned of the accumulated any-any rules that every long-running firewall collects.
Remote access without the VPN tax
Modern access that grants a user one application rather than the whole network, and that does not fall over when everyone works remotely at once.
Vendor-neutral selection
We hold competence across the major firewall platforms and recommend on fit — throughput, feature need and total cost — not on a quota.
Other services
Have your firewall policy reviewed
A rule-base review tells you what your firewall is actually permitting today — which is rarely what the business assumes.
